The Angelus
There's something about trees and sunsets and lakes that always mesmerizes me. I can't explain it. So I just let my camera do the talking.
These couple of shots were both taken on lakesides but on two different lakes. One was taken in Rotorua and the other in Taupo. Both were taken at about the same time but the hues were very different. Perhaps it's because one was taken looking towards the east and the other towards the west.
I am always awe-struck by the simple, serene, yet powerful beauty of sunset. Somehow it seems like a daily sign, constantly reminding me to stay still, close my eyes and pray the Angelus, just like when I was in school when I hear the pealing bells at around 6 o'clock in the evening:
"...Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen..."
This was taken from the west looking eastward.
This one was taken from the east looking westward.
Ang masasabi lang namin, kapag maganda ang kukunan at nagkamali ka pa...;-P
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, beautiful!
Ang ganda naman ng shots na ito!
ReplyDeleteyellow....obviously the French impressionist painter would love to be in your place right now...or the poet Gerald Manley Hopkins, S.J.,..'shaken with the glory of God' .....roms
ReplyDeleteSalamat KTB. Ang camera ay isang kagamitan lamang. Ang isip ang siyang tunay na tagpag-likha. But we see things through our own personal filters. One can choose too show the ugly side of a beautiful thing (e.g. the notorious paparazzi) or vice-versa. Perhaps due to inexperience, puede magka-mali. Pero minsan, ito ay sadya depende na lamang sa mensaheng gustong iparating.
ReplyDeleteSabi nga ni KTB, nasa subject talaga yan. Pag maganda and scene, maganda din ang kalalabasan na litrato.
ReplyDeleteHi Romy. I'm sure NZ has it's own homegrown poets both contemporary and classic. The scenery in this part of the world is truly inspiring. In my own version of "poetry" though, I'm more in the area of "try" than in the area of "poet." Hehehehe...
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful way to see the world! and you take awesome pictures. ako din, enamored ako sa sunsets. :)
ReplyDeletelovely shots Tochie!!! May Dyos talaga.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for the kind words. Hope to see more and share more beautiful sunsets.
ReplyDeleteAy, sinabi mo Hugz. Ang kagandahan ng larawang yan, bagama't galing sa isang gawa ng tao, ay talagang gawa ng Taga-paglikha. I do not know or cannot imagine any artist who is able to paint the sky in a different hue, shape and perspective everyday and always a beauty to behold since the beginning of time.
ReplyDeleteChit, you got the eye or it buddy. Great shots!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Joe. The message is "Life's great!" And I am just the messenger. I'm sure you guys there in Arizona have far more magnificent views. I'll check my archives if I can find one of those photos taken in your 'backyard' (The Grand Canyon).
ReplyDeleteHi Joe. Here's a couple of shots taken from your 'backyard' during a visit there some years back.
ReplyDeleteand
The images are highly pixelated. I'm still looking for the originals.
Yes, they said that the picture was always there, you framed it well amigo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe.
ReplyDeleteWe do have some amazing landscapes here, just look at the Arizona highways magazine they have some amazing photos there. You should have been here that year, looking at some of John Wayne's movie locations they were truly grand. You and your family are always welcome.
ReplyDeleteYup, should've been but I was a working man back then, and worked beckoned. There's always a next time, Joe.
