Brunch is served...

A hearty brunch. Yummm....

Brunch

Scrambled eggs, on a generous serving of bacon, with hash browns, topped with smoked salmon and creamy butter melt.

On a whim, my daughter and I decided to try a walking trail which we were told would lead us right to the Lower Hutt CBD. The trail was really a short-cut taken by those who prefer to walk rather than take a bus or drive a car to their place of work at the Hutt City Center.

Being new to the route, we thought it was going to take forever to complete the walk. But since it was a fine day with just a little chill in the wind, we were able to make it in about 45 minutes - just about the time it takes most people to make it. My feet were a little sore though so we immediately looked for a place where we could sit down and rest. And just a few meters from where we stopped was a place called Riverside Restaurant. Since it was around 10 in the morning, just a few customers were there (in fact they occupied just one table). We thought that it was just the right time to have a well-deserved brunch (after that 45-minute downhill walk).

This is what I had, a hearty, if quite unhealthy serving of bacon and egg on hash browns with smoked salmon.

Over-all, that morning was a time well spent - an invigorating and refreshing walk, a great meal, and quality time with my daughter while resting those weary feet.

  1. Siram siram ng marhay! That takes care of the calories spent while walking. Hope you walked it off again after the meal! LOL!

  2. Hi Mags. We really thought of doing that, i.e. by walking back. But the return route was an uphill climb and I didn't think we could actually do that - on just the first try. So we walked-off all those calories exploring the CBD and the some of the malls in it.

We took the bus on our way home, hahahaha....

I'm planning to do that walk - to and fro - next time :-)

  5. Aren't daughters (sons too) precious? They grow up with you all smiles and tears and giggles. You go through their childhood fears and high school antics. In college you watch them muddle through their doubts and help nurse weekly broken hearts. They lash out at you and the world and you think they must hate you for every word you wrongly utter. Then they grow up and become these wise and loving creatures.

Wait til they become mothers, Chito. Then you'll get the surprise to end all surprises.

  6. Sons and daughters are precious? That's an understatement Lou. They are treasures! And in my case, my only true wealth. But I guess you're right. Grandchildren, as you may have implied, are truly grand!

  7. OMG. *need to eat*
I know what you mean by walking (a short distance, hehe) and enjoying beautiful, good food with people you love. Kaya ang taba ko na eh. ;-P
