MY TAKE
It is a good movie to watch. In fact a very good one indeed. There's some element of the classic movie, "Murder at the Orient Express" in it, but with a twist - a murder occurring in a singular location with the suspect being one among a group of people who were in that same location. The twist is that the murder took place some years ago (40 years in fact), and that the body of the victim has never been found. And the two main characters, both with interesting personal backgrounds, are tasked to find the murderer. Their investigation though leads them to something more, and the two lead characters themselves get into a very interesting relationship.
This is one of those movies which merits are carried more by the story itself rather than by the actors/actresses in it. It thus succeeds in engaging the audience on the story instead of the movie stars in its cast (although they, too can be credited for the movies' drawing power). It's mystery. It's suspense. It's a first-class thriller.
Daniel Craig (the latest James Bond), and Rooney Mara are smoking hot - http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B-8bPir1Il0/TykgB7O7OiI/AAAAAAAABDQ/ahFM-rLlRsc/s1600/Rooney+Mara+Hair-shopstriped9.blogspot.com-Stieg-Larsson-The-Girl-with-the-Dragon-Tattoo-with-Rooney-Mara-and-Daniel-Craig-Columbia-Pictures-and-Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer-Pictures.jpeg.
I must say that this is one movie that thoroughly entertained me. I can't recall a movie in recent memory that has done that to me.
It's one movie I will not reluctantly recommend. In fact, I recommend it strongly. Your movie-allowance is money well-spent on this one.
And by the way, it has been rated by the MTRCB as R-18 and shown uncut (at least in the movie house where I watched it).

ReplyDeleteArno and I read the triology of this series..Super author this Stieg Larrson..a pity he died just as he submitted manuscript..
ReplyDeleteWe've watched the original Swedish version of the films..they're all a hit here..
now with Daniel Craig, I think we would also watch it! when I started the first book, i couldn't stop..I bought it in German for Arno to read, he had the same "Bug"...so we have 6 books -English and German..it's just so great-
I lent to Annette the complete triologie and she had the same hunger to read them at once..
you can find the Millennium Trilogy dvds here, ask Sec.Llamas :)
ReplyDeleteAm watching it now...My curiosity got more intense, when I heard the movie's opening song, a revival of one of Led Zeppelin's bests - Immigrant Song ( i like their whole lotta love better). so far so good for the first 15 minutes...daughter was surprised how i knew the songs of Led Zeppelin..its the rocker side of me...ha.ha...
ReplyDeletesounds intriguing! and with a cast like that, parang its a must not to be missed
ReplyDeleteCuh, recommendable..
ReplyDeleteArno and I both read the books, then watched the film adaptations..of course there were some alterations from the books, but the swedish film adaptation did it well..
I am interested about the Hollywooding of this story..it's really great..it's very diverse and dynamically written..STIEG Larsson is great..and LIZBETH is adourable!
BTW, the orginal Lisbeth of the Swedish version is Noomi Rapace, the gypsy woman in Sherlock Holmes 2
