It's 10:00 PM and it's eerily quite. I guess after a whole day of rain pounding the roof, the sudden quietness is kind of weird and a bit scary. It's like you're anticipating something to happen but you don't know what, and you don't know when either!

    Fortunately, Oselle (and thank God), our place here in Las Pinas has been spared from the floods. But just the same sleep is not easy when you know that people (just less than 1,000 meters from where you live) are up on their roof for the last 10 hours, wet, cold and no food and in the dark!

    Pero nung nasa probinsya pa ako, ganun din kami kasi we lived along a river which usually breaks its banks during strong rains and storms. Alam ko di natutulog yung mga magulang ko for fear that the waters will rise. And when they do, I know from experience that they do so in very short time. Less than 30 minutes baha na ang bahay namin.

I've been going to Manila ever since I was a boy in the 60s. I don't remember exactly how many times. In all of these trips, I've always been going with either my mother or father or both. Most of these trips were for the purpose of visiting my elder sister who was then already going to the university, and a few trips were actually for some sight-seeing, e.g. Manila Zoo, Quiapo, etc. I remember we always had to pack as early three or four days before and all of our luggage will be neatly lined along the hallway all zipped-up and ready to go (and not to be touched by anyone, except by my mom, of course).
