Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda of Genetic Manipulation

In Abraham Maslow's classic work on human psychology, The Theory of Human Motivation, he argues that in man's hierarchy of needs, food is the foremost of all human needs and must therefore be first to be satisfied. As such, it, too, is the most basic of all motivations without which all other needs are irrelevant including life itself.

So when you learn that there's a careful, deliberate and strategic plan to control food supply by a group of elite individuals with the resources, the technology and the brain trust of the most brilliant individuals to actually draw-up and execute such a plan with the ultimate goal of world domination, how do you react? You'll probably think that that is not possible and may only happen in the world of Hollywood.

But author and researcher F. William Engdahl says that indeed this is not just a possibility but already a reality. And as a matter of fact, it is not just an elite group of private individuals who are in on the plan but also some of the most influential personalities in the government of the most powerful country in the world. Engdahl's book, "The Seeds of Destruction: The Hidden Agenda Of Genetic Manipulation," reads like one of those best selling spy-suspense thriller. As thrilling as Ludlum's Bourne Series. With more twists and turns than any of the Tom Clancy, John le Carré or Michael Crichton novels. The only difference is that this one is real.

This book has a special relevance to me as I am part of the Philippine food industry and I have first hand experience on the effects and impact of a food shortage to a country like ours. Upon reading this book, I have developed a very different view of IRRI, the international organization that leads the research on food grains. It's supposed to have in one of its vaults a collection of all indigenous grains seeds in the world, which implies total control. In a world which population is expected to double in the next 50 years or so, food will be the most sought after, most expensive and most valuable commodity. Anyone who has control of it will be able to control the world. And one of the most influential person of the current century is on record for having said: "Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control the people." This was uttered by Henry Kissinger, the guy who was called a "Svengali*" to Richard Nixon in the 70s. And as a matter of record, he actually ordered a study resulting to Henry Kissinger's classified memo in April, 1974. It was on a secret project called National Security Study Memorandum 200 (NSSM 200) that was shaped by Rockefeller interests and aimed to adopt a "world population plan of action" for drastic global population control - meaning to reduce it. The US led the effort, and it worked like this - it made birth control in developing countries a prerequisite for US aid. Engdahl summed it up in blunt terms: "if these inferior races get in the way of our securing ample, cheap raw materials, then we must find ways to get rid of them." Control of population. Control of food. Control of progress and development to ensure superiority of the elite group.

Editorial Reviews

If you want to learn why biotech corporations insist on spreading GMO seeds around the World you should read this carefully researched book. You will learn how these corporations want to achieve control over all mankind, and why we must resist...
--Marijan Jost, Professor of Genetics, Krizevci, Croatia

The book reads like a murder mystery of an incredible dimension, in which four giant Anglo-American agribusiness conglomerates have no hesitation to use GMO to gain control over our very means of subsistence...
--Anton Moser, Professor of Biotechnology, Graz, Austria

What is so frightening about Engdahl's vision of the world is that it is so real. In this new age of free markets, everything science, commerce, agriculture and even seeds have become weapons in the hands of a few global corporation barons and their political fellow travelers...
---Dr. Arpad Pusztai, biochemist, formerly of the Rowett Research Institute, Scotland.

General Description

This skillfully researched book focuses on how a small socio-political American elite seeks to establish its control over the very basis of human survival, the provision of our daily bread. Control the food and you control the people. This is no ordinary book about the perils of GMO. Engdahl takes the reader inside the corridors of power, into the backrooms of the science labs, behind closed doors in the corporate boardrooms. The author reveals a World of profit-driven political intrigue, government corruption and coercion, where genetic manipulation and the patenting of life forms are used to gain worldwide control over food production. The book is an eye-opener, a must-read for all those committed to the causes of social justice and World peace.

  1. This is scary Chito because it is true. This is what i've been hearing from church people (bishops and formators) in informal gatherings.

  2. Scary indeed, Loy. I'm sure this is something that the Church has heard of already. Right now, the raging debate is on a pending bill in the Phil. Congress dubbed the RH Bill (for Reproductive Health Bill). Among others, the Bill proposes to reactivate or strengthen the PopCom or the Population Commision, a 70s government agency funded primarily by USAID, designed principally to effect a "central planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring body for the comprehensive and integrated policy on reproductive health and population development."

But for many things in this world none is what they may appear to be - thus the phrase "hidden agenda."

    ReplyDelete
  3. And that's the scarriest reality - the hidden agenda is always coated with an altruistic front so people are diverted from seeing the truth. Didn't the Americans do that during the Commonwealth period of our history?

  4. I'm sure you have heard about Avian Flu. Well, here's a bit of trivia for you. Did you know that the most famous drug to counter this virus was a drug called Tamiflu (but whose efficacy is yet disputed)?

From the Center for Research on Globalization comes this revelation...

"Tamiflu was developed and patented in 1996 by a California biotech firm, Gilead Sciences Inc. Gilead is a NASDAQ (GILD) listed stock company which prefers to maintain a low profile in the current rush to Tamiflu. That might be because of who is tied to Gilead. In 1997, before he became US Secretary of Defense, Donald H. Rumsfeld was named Chairman of the Board of Gilead Sciences, where he remained until early 2001 when he became Defense Secretary. Rumsfeld had been on the board of Gilead since 1988 according to a January 3 1997 company press release.

An as-yet-unconfirmed report is that Rumsfeld while Secretary of Defense also purchased an additional stock in his former company, Gilead Sciences Inc., worth $18 million, making him one of its largest if not the largest stock owners today."

    And there's more....

"But Tamiflu conflicts are perhaps just the tip of the iceberg of the Avian Flu story. There is high-level biological research underway in Britain and presumably also the United States to develop a genetic engineering method to make chickens and other birds ‘resistant’ to Avian Flu viruses.

British scientists are reportedly genetically engineering chickens to produce birds resistant to the lethal strains of the H5N1 virus devastating poultry in the Far East. Laurence Tiley, Professor of Microular Virology at Cambridge University and Helen Sang of the Roslin Institute in Scotland are involved in developing ‘transgenic chickens’ which would have small pieces of genetic material inserted into chicken eggs to allegedly make the chickens H5N1 resistant.

Tiley told the Times of London on October 29, ‘Once we have regulatory approval, we believe it will only take between four and five years to breed enough chickens to replace the entire world (chicken) population.’ The real question in this dubious undertaking is which GMO giants are underwriting the research and development of GMO chickens and who will control their products."

Tama ba basa ko? "...to replace the entire world chicken population..."
