It's 10:00 PM and it's eerily quite. I guess after a whole day of rain pounding the roof, the sudden quietness is kind of weird and a bit scary. It's like you're anticipating something to happen but you don't know what, and you don't know when either!

Wet and stormy weather today. Great time to just curl-up in bed. But here's the bummer: I realize that many people are out there instead of being at home and in bed. Some just have to report for work and go through the wet and probably even flooded streets. And l hate to think about it, but others may be in danger because of possible landslides, or flash floods, etc. Here's an animated image of Typhoon Ondoy or known internationally as Tropical Storm Ketsana: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/mtsat/flt/t1/flash-rb.html

Just one more view that attempts to answer the question: - Why we are where we are now. You may want to read this article by Dr. Bernardo Villegas at http://opinion.inquirer.net/inquireropinion/columns/view/20090912-224789/How-did-we-get-to-where-we-are Here's an excerpt: "In the whole of East Asia, the Philippines has one of the worst poverty conditions. Depending on how the poverty line is defined, some 30 to 40 percent of our 90 million population are living in dehumanizing poverty. Only Vietnam has a similar poverty index. How did we get to where we are?"
